Eminent Fellows of the European Academy of Cancer Sciences (EACS) will be speaking at the European Cancer Research Summit on May 3rd, a virtual event organized by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
At a time when Europe is looking to implement the Mission on Cancer of its research programme « Horizon Europe » and its own « EU Beating Cancer Plan », the Summit is intended to boost European collaborative research and innovation networks in Health, and to invite Members States to concretely commit to appropriate national mesures to share networks and improve patient-centered cancer research as a standard in Europe. High level European and national policymakers, patients representatives, industry representatives and the scientific community will address key clinical research issues in oncology at European level, and focus on the role of translational, clinical and prevention trials and outcomes research infrastructures, as well as on ways to foster transatlantic cooperation.
The summit is an initiative of the Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, in association with the Portuguese Health Ministry, and an integral part of the Trio Presidency of the Council of the European Union (Germany, Portugal and Slovenia) commitment to fight cancer and enhance European patient-centered cancer research.
